Live interaction within a pool of phones is possible by monitoring the \u201cpresence\u201d of the parties involved.<\/p>\n<p>Each phone can \u201cwatch\u201d the status of up to eight other phones. These other phones form the \u201cBuddy List\u201d. The status of buddies is displayed and updated in real time. Each phone can also be \u201cwatched\u201d by up to eight other phones.<\/p>\n<p><strong>To add or delete a contact from your buddy list, or block a contact:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Press <strong>Menu<\/strong> button and select <strong>Features, Contact Directory<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Using the arrow keys, scroll through the directory to choose a contact.<\/li>\n<li>Press <strong>Edit<\/strong> and scroll down to the Watch Buddy or Block Buddy fields.<\/li>\n<li>Press <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-854\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fastmetrics.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2014\/06\/polycom-430-right.png\" alt=\"Polycom 430 Right arrow\" width=\"18\" height=\"18\" \/> to switch between Enabled or Disabled status.<\/li>\n<li>Press the <strong>Save<\/strong> soft key or <strong>Cancel<\/strong> to abandon the change then press <strong>Menu<\/strong> button to return to the idle display.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These figures show a typical My Status display and a Buddy Status screen display of monitored phones.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-887\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fastmetrics.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2014\/06\/430-buddy-1.png\" alt=\"Polycom SoundPoint 430 - Buddy Lists\" width=\"358\" height=\"420\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.fastmetrics.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2014\/06\/430-buddy-1.png 358w, https:\/\/www.fastmetrics.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2014\/06\/430-buddy-1-256x300.png 256w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 358px) 100vw, 358px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>To Change Your Presence settings:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Press <strong>Menu<\/strong> button and select <strong>Features and Presence<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Choose <strong>My Status<\/strong> to change your own status (online, busy, etc.). This affects information sent to watching phones. Presence information will also be sent to watching phones when the user goes off-hook or invokes <strong>Do Not Disturb<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The My Status display can also be accessed by pressing the <strong>Stats<\/strong> soft key from the idle display.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>To View Status of the Contacts Within Your Buddy List:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Press <strong>Menu<\/strong> button and select <strong>Features and Presence<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Choose <strong>Buddy Status<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>This can also be accessed by pressing the <strong>Buddies<\/strong> soft key on the idle display.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>To See Which Phones are Currently Monitoring Your Status:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Press <strong>Menu<\/strong> button and select <strong>Features and Presence<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Choose <strong>Watcher List<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Press the <strong>Block<\/strong> soft key to block a watcher.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Presence \/ Status \/ Buddy Lists The phone combines interactive message services and status monitoring to complement a traditional messaging application such as email.
