If your Microsoft Outlook will not open, there could a few reasons why. Outlook has a tendency to leave multiple processes running in the background, most of which are invisible to a computer user. If one of these processes is already running, attempting to open Outlook again will not display anything. Outlook is actually running already, you just can not see it. If you&#8217;re experiencing a problem with Outlook not opening, the following guidance will help you troubleshoot Outlook not starting.<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\">Programs Which Keep Microsoft Outlook Email Open<\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">If your Microsoft Outlook is actually already open, but you just can&#8217;t see it, click here to see a <a title=\"Programs Outlook Leaves Running\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fastmetrics.com\/support\/programs-outlook-leaves-running\/\">list of possible programs<\/a>\u00a0and software\u00a0that might be causing Outlook to remain open.<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\">Troubleshooting MS Outlook When It Will Not Open<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Step 1:<\/strong> If your Microsoft Outlook will not open, the first step is to open Windows Task Manager. There are a couple of options to do this, but the most efficient way to open Task Manager is to press the<strong> Ctrl, Alt &amp; Delete buttons at the same time.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fastmetrics.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2014\/06\/outlook-open-3.jpg\" alt=\"Outlook will not open 3\" width=\"240\" height=\"160\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 2:<\/strong> When the Windows Task Manager window appears, select the <strong>Processes<\/strong> tab &#8211;\u00a0the second tab on the left at the top of the window.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 3:<\/strong> Now you can start to end those invisible background processes that Outlook has left running on your computer, which are causing your Outlook to not open.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 4:<\/strong> Look for a process named OUTLOOK.EXE<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 5:<\/strong>\u00a0Click on that process in the list.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 6:<\/strong> Click on the <strong>End Process<\/strong> button, at the bottom right of the Task Manager window.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-282\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fastmetrics.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2014\/06\/outlook-open-4.png\" alt=\"Outlook will not open 4\" width=\"240\" height=\"290\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Repeat steps 3 to 6<\/strong> for each process Outlook has left running. Remember to check this <a title=\"Programs that keep Outlook running\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fastmetrics.com\/support\/email-programs-leave-outlook-running\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">list of programs that may keep Outlook running<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 7:<\/strong> When you see the below warning dialog after completing <strong>Step 6<\/strong>, it is normal.
